This autumn [2009] we are hoping to start a branch of ‘The Guild of Saint Raphael’ [the Churches Healing Ministry] which will include a monthly service of the Eucharist, prayer and Laying on of Hands. The Team Rector who is a Council Member of the Guild of Saint Raphael writes:
I believe that the time is now right to form a Branch of the Guild of Saint Raphael. Within the Bodmin Team Ministry.
Whatever your background you will find lots to interest you.
The Guild’s concern is healing in its widest sense - the healing of all creation, individuals, society, the environment.
This is what we understand by 'Christ's ministry of healing' and in the Guild of St Raphael we are dedicated to promoting this ministry, and to practising it, particularly at the local level. Briefly its aim is to –
• encourage churches and congregations to view the ministry of healing as a normal part of their life and worship. • promote good practice in the use of healing services and especially the sacraments of healing. • engage in research and theological study across the whole field of health, sickness and healing. • share thoughts through the journal Chrism and other publications. • work in close co-operation with the medical profession and others engaged in the work of healing. To this end, in September I will be inviting all who are interested to an exploratory meeting to discuss the formation of a branch of the Guild of Saint Raphael and to formulate how and when we should meet. If you would like further information or wish to discuss the idea further please do not hesitate to contact The Team Rector
